FLORAL TRIBUTES TO GUDIBANDI VENKATA REDDY (GVR) AN UNCROWNED EMPEROR OF KOLLIPARA
Floral tributes to Gudibandi Venkata Reddy (GVR) - An uncrowned Emperor of Kollipara
Kollipara is a large village in Tenali division of Guntur Dist. The village abutting river Krishna is known for diversified agriculture with record yields due to rich alluvial soils. Like it's importance in Agriculture, Kollipara contributed committed, honest leaders to the state.
Gudibandi Venkata Reddy popularly known as GVR in his 20 year of uninterrupted political career as MLA from 1989 to 2009 ( 4 terms) set an example for politicians, how one can conduct himself in public life and remain spotless. Had the Duggirala constituency not become nonexistent in delimitation process, he would have set state record by winning elections continuously. Though he was offered another seat , keeping the value systems in politics at high, he withdrew from contesting.

GVR and Co, was leading irrigation contractors in the state and was much bigger than present well known contractors like Prasad, KMC, IVRCL etc. GVR was well known builder in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Vijayawada. Once he became active in public life , got disassociated with businesses and remind as public servant. When most of the politicians were growing big with money bags, GVR sold his properties to contest elections ( two beautiful houses one in Somajiguda next to the residence of late NJR EX CM and the other one on road no 36 Jubilee hills next to chutneys restaurant other than his running business, but grown much taller with image in public life.
The initial inspiration came from our first MLA and freedom fighter Late Avuthu Rami Reddy and our long standing sarpanch and his own brother Late Gudibandi Gopi Reddy who were also spotless and best examples for public life and gave a special brand image to Kollipara. GVR's BIL and MLA in 1967 also contributed for the image of Kollipara. GVR took it to the peaks.
It's really sad and irreparable loss to Kollipara in particular and for state and it's budding politicians. The loss of a leader who set an example for clean politics and how to conduct oneself in public life is a real vacuum in AP state politics. Hope our younger generations take GVR as an trendsetter, guru and contribute richly to the welfare and development of poor.
Following his path of public life and contributing to society without expecting anything in return is the real tributes one can pay to GVR.
May his soul rest in peace.
