DEMOCRACY IS AT DOLDRUMS IN TAMIL NADU

DEMOCRACY IS AT DOLDRUMS IN TAMIL NADU BJP with its greed for power in TN, made premature moves of uniting KPS & OPS by grossly underestimating Sashikala. KPS who was sitting comfortably in CM seat and sure of sailing through for next four years with blessings of Sashikala, had fallen into the trap of BJP and now fishing in troubled waters. BJP once again overestimated the strength of OPS and miserably failed in understanding Tamil sentiments and localized politics of this region. With about 30 MLAs in Sashikala camp, openly opposing the merger of OPS & KPS groups and seeking for vote of confidence in assembly, is real test for BJP and unfortunately Governor 's office is dragged into controversy again. DMK is looking at the options of forming Government by taking advantage of present confusion in AIADMK. One thing is clear Tamilians after tasting regional parties power for over 5 decades, are not going to entertain either BJP or congress. Due to these latest de...

ARE WE HEADING FOR ANOTHER UNFRUITFUL PARLIAMENT SESSIONS??

ARE WE HEADING FOR ANOTHER UNFRUITFUL PARLIAMENT SESSIONS?? In a democracy, parliament is the highest decision making body. The demonetisation of currency is historic decision and it is the prime responsibility of Government to take public into confidence by discussing, deliberating on the concept, implementation strategy, road map, and the current situation etc in parliament and see that entire nation is taken into confidence in “Black fight”. Unfortunately the ruling party is trying to finds some lame excuses to avoid fruitful discussions and certainly it will not go well with democracy. Mr. Azad’s statement on loss of lives related to currency exchange and he relating it with oori killings need not be colored as nation’s integrity issue. The spirit behind the speech has to be well taken rather than diverting the attention on technical ground. Government shall discuss the problems in detail and take proper steps to avoid inconvenience to public. It is not proper on the ...

Estate vs. Custodianship- Relevance in Democracy & Governance

Estate vs. Custodianship- Relevance in Democracy & Governance It is very well defined in our constitution & judiciary that the democratically elected and constitutionally held positions have to keep the country's integrity and sovereignty intact and effectively perform role of custodian and safe guard the national property against all evil forces. The oath of office and secrecy taken before getting into these positions by politicians, bureaucrats, judiciary, others, clearly define the respective position's role as custodian and attorney. Unfortunately what is happening in the country day in day out is very different from democratic defined principles. We come across so many incidents of lands being allotted at through away prices, contracts are awarded to kith and kin at escalated rates, huge scaling up of estimates in infra & development projects and many more.  Under the cover of shared responsibility, certain decisions are taken at cabinet level with su...
