INDIAN IT INDUSTRY- URBAN PERSPECTIVE
INDIAN IT INDUSTRY- URBAN PERSPECTIVE
I have been travelling in USA for last three weeks and made some observations. This country is 3.5 bigger than India with 1/4th population of India.
IT industry is predominant and spread across the country. Even in small suburbs the industry is spread out and creating huge employment generation and contributing to local county income generation and decongestion of metros.
Where as in India about 80% of IT industry is concentrated in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi and spin off is into cities like Coimbatore, vizag etc but not moving into small towns resulting into huge burden on urban infrastructure and making most of our cities unlivable.
It is very unfortunate to know that our policy makers are still focusing on these metros despite warning signals on their liveable conditions.
We need to seriously look into our urban strategy and move forward. The way the urbanisation is happening in India it's alarming situation and unfortunately GOI is encouraging urbanisation with concepts like smart cities etc.
