*INDIA SHINING -BHARATH BURNING *
Please see the pictures shared. This is a train from Secundrabad to Howrah, general compartment at Vijayawada station on 09.09.2018. It is not a weekend or festive season or school holidays.
The compartment is jam packed and in a bay written as 40 seating , over 200 are traveling @ 500% capacity utilization , an economist can see huge revenue but at what cost?
Analyze the issue with humanistic approach. If 5 people are sitting in a place recommended for 1, that too for long hours resulting in suffocation, unhygienic conditions , toilets, fire or any untoward incidents happen, imagine the type of toll it can take. What are we doing? Are we not serious about lives of poor? What for GOI putting Swachh Bharath and indian flag stickers on these coaches when we fail to take care of very basic amenities? Whom are we impressing with these cosmetic presentations?
Unfortunately the media is also not playing constructive role. They believe more in sensation than prevention. When some untoward incident happen taking lives of people , all will come with front page articles, write about failures and prevention, then forget about it within a week or so.
There is huge migration of people from east India and eastern UP to Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, west and south India for employment in industry, service sector and agriculture. In order to cater their travel needs, government has to be sensitive to their basic requirements and run complete janata trains with super fast speed so that they reach destinations with less time and get into work quickly.
Without addressing the essential requirements of common man , if we make tall claims of growth rates and robust economy etc, is it holistic development of the nation?
