TONGUE TWISTING -TRAIT OF SELECTIVE POLITICAL BREEDS

Background:

Special category status (SCS) for five years to residual Andhra Pradesh was promised through a statement by then Hon’ble Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in both the houses of parliament and Sri. Venkaiah Naidu demanded for 10 years while participating in the discussions in Rajyasaba.  Sri Narendra Modi then PM candidate of NDA promised that SCS to AP will be extended for 15 years if BJP is voted to power and in fact it’s mentioned in BJP election manifesto also. State reorganization bill contains Railway Zone, Sea Port, Steel plant, Polavaram project completion with national status, State capital project-Amaravathi, two industrial corridors and series of Educational institutions. 

After three years, SCS was deferred stating that it is not part of reorganization bill drafted by previous Government and somehow the present NDA Government is finding ways to avoid SCS to AP. In lieu of SCS, spl package was promised and one year time was passed without giving legal status to spl package and finally the intentions of the present Delhi rulers were understood by Sri Chandrababu Naidu and TDP came out of NDA and intensified its fight against GOI for SCS.

The port, steel plant, industrial corridors etc moved into dormant stage, the future of Amaravathi, Polavaram, educational institutions is looking bleak with uncertain funding and no committed time frames from GOI.

With these developments, all the political parties in AP except BJP and larger section of public across the nation felt cheated. AP left with no option than continuing its fight with centre still the SCS and other promises are fulfilled. In fact we are asking for what was promised in the bill, nothing more. 

There are sufficient funds to spend on projects like erecting Patel statue by spending few thousand crores, when it comes to irrigation project or education institution or industry which helps millions of people with direct and indirect employment, there is heavy deficit in budget and cannot be honored. Are we really living in federal democracy? 

When it comes to public issues:

A senior most BJP politician from AP and south expressed that the 14th finance commission, Niti Aayog is coming in the way of special status to AP and even cabinet and parliament can do very little about it. He indicated inability to take it forward. Despite his seniority in party, his access to other ministers, nothing much was done to AP in terms of budget allocations or to fulfill the prior commitments.

This gentleman could do very little to resolve others issues in reorganization bill and gone into silence mode after series of felicitations. 

When it comes to political issues:

In reorganization bill, it is mentioned that assembly and parliament seats will be increased in AP and TG states. Later the union home minister made a statement in parliament, stating that it will not be possible to increase the assembly or parliament seats till 2026 census and followed by confirmative statement from attorney general.

The same senior BJP politician holding important positions in GOI, who developed cold feet to resolve public issues stated in reorganization bill, failed in getting SCS or legal status to spl package took a different stand when it comes to increase in assembly and parliament seats. He stated that the increase in assembly and parliament seats is part of state reorganization bill and it has to be honored at any cost.  He went one step ahead and stated that if required constitution will be amended to increase parliament and assembly seats.

Double standard politics:

 

When it comes to special status, which is beneficial to state and people, the BJP leader categorically said no and when it comes to asylum to more politicians through increase in assembly and parliament seats, he was willing to go to any extent including constitution amendment.  These clearly exhibit double standard politics of our leaders. Finally NDA brushed aside everything including increase in seats and created present crisis situation in AP.

Baseless remarks from newly selected AP BJP President:

Sri Amit shah and team waited for more than six months and finally selected a defector from Congress to BJP, Sri Kanna Lakshminarayana as party AP president, against the principles of RSS/BJP.  Kanna almost decided to jump into YSRCP from BJP and even the data of joining into YSRCP was announced and posters and flexes surfaced everywhere.  Invisible forces surfaced few hours before the event, followed by hospital drama with cinematic climax of Kanna becoming state BJP president. In fact there are rumors that he even tried to join TDP in between. National party, boasting of vast public support across the nation has to compromise and go for a defector and one who was looking at other party doors till last movement as its state party president in AP. This clearly reflects of BJP presence and its image in AP.

In his newly acquired capacity, Kanna is trying to blame CBN Garu and TDP for present state affairs in AP and trying his level best to please his brand new bosses. He is speaking in air and making baseless allegations by stating that CBN during his 29 times Delhi visits, demanded only Jagan arrest and increase in assembly seats and never spoke about state development, SCS and never asked for funds for completion of projects, as his focus was only Jagan arrest and accommodating defected MLAs by increase in seats.  In fact CBN visits to Delhi are very transparent and minute to minute program is fully documented and covered widely in media and in press conferences. The visits were always focused on state development with series of meetings with respective ministries and follow up through special monitoring teams based in Delhi.

Going down to such low levels to amuse bosses by permanently pledging the interests of AP people is not expected from a senior politician and long standing minister from AP, Sri Kanna Lakshminarayana. AP people are waiting for appropriate time to punish Kanna, his bosses and the party which he represents as president (hopefully till elections).

LET US UNITE AND FIGHT FOR GENIUNE RIGHTS OF AP. SPECIAL CATEGORY STATUS IS OUR RIGHT, WE DO NOT BEG, WE DEMAND IT.
