POLITICAL PARTIES  .... WAKE UP ...2019 IS NOT  FAR

Government Performance:

What is going wrong with BJP/NDA? People gave historic mandate to perform and deliver what was promised. Instead they became masters in scoring self goals and getting bogged down with localized issues such as cow economy, religious discrimination, caste issues, sensitising  national security , mandir etc, resulting in attention diversion, nonperformance, questionable deliverables etc.

In democracy, political parties are elected to power for five year period. People expect delivery within this time frame. Parties in power may be trying to buy more time through long term vision documents. People are very smart and vision without immediate deliveries are being rejected.

Election Politics:

Till yesterday, everything was looking rosy for NDA. After thumping victory in UP, the party took the people for granted and started pushing the Hindutva agenda. With Swamiji after Swamiji getting into controversies, raising fuel prices, lowest ever farmer produce prices, slowly the people's hopes on Modi Government are going down and started looking at alternatives. 

The sweep in Rajasthan bipolls  by Congress and signals of BJP strained relations with partners like Shiv Sena, TDP , gave indications that tables are turning. The congress and other opposition parties got good supply of oxygen and on the path of revival. The winning spree of Congress continued in bipolls of Karnataka, MP, Chhattisgarh. With close finish in Gujarat, Congress hopes are alive and confident of decent performance in 2019 general elections. 

The loss in Delhi bypolls to  AAP, in UP to SP and in Bihar to RJD ( even after JDU and BJP combine), are the strong indications that united opposition can put an end to BJP election successes, despite full proof strategies from Amit Shah, Modi combine. BJP was successful in reaching second position in Orissa and West Bengal, but far behind BJD or Trinamool Congress and their performance will not be better than 2014 in these states.

No doubt BJP scored an impressive victory in Tripura and able to form Governments in Nagaland and Manipur. Historically north east goes with ruling party at centre, due to their over dependency on centre for budget support and victories in North east can not be counted as real strength of BJP in long run. Being states with influence of christian minorities, their influence may turn to other side very easily. 

Coming to south, BJP has no hopes in Telangana, AP, Kerala and TN. Their only hope in south of India is Karnataka. In TN, BJP tried all combinations after sudden demise of Jayalalitha, but nothing worked out.  BJP is seen as north party and even the traces of Modi meeting Karunanidhi pushed DMK into third position in recent  by elections and BJP scored less than NOTA. BJP presently banking on AIADMK (on ventilation after JJ death) , may try with Rajani etc, still not confident about scoring. There are going to be very keen and tight fights between Congress and TRS in Telengana, Congress and CPM in Kerala, TDP and YSRCP in AP and there is no space left for BJP to enter in. For the injustice done to AP, Telugus in both states and even in other states are against BJP and waiting for time to punish them. 

Karnataka in offing:

Coming to Karnataka, it is triangular fight between Congress, BJP and JDS with BJP having strong presence particularly in north Karnataka and Bangalore city with sizable Lingayat community backing BJP.  Karnataka assembly polls are on 12th May,2018 and opinion polls are more in favour of Congress or hung assembly with Congress as single largest party. BJP is expecting that after Modi's campaign things have changed more in favour of them and expecting a nail bite finish. We have to hold back our breath till 15th morning to understand what Karnataka decided for Rahul or Modi. 

With general elections in sight in less than a year, the Karnataka elections are like quarter finals and indeed a game changer for both national parties. Hence the win here is very important to keep the hopes of Congress alive and for BJP to have confidence that their campaign of Congress mukt Bharath is still working.  

Essence of Healthy Democracy: 

Elections, parties and leaders will come and go,but the people, the nation will remain and healthy democracy is important to sustain the value systems to serve people. All parties has to to inculcate these basic principles of democracy and conduct election campaigns with these self guided principles. 

What is happening on ground is alarming. Parties and their leaders are throwing these democratic principles, forget about what they delivered, what is there in offing and soly banking on caste, creed, money bags and making mockery out of democracy. It's unfortunate to see that our leaders forget to mention positive contributions of our own leaders Nehru, Gandhi, Patel, Indira , Shyam Prasad Mukherjee,  Vajpayee to seek votes and depending on more of negative publicity by bringing in Jinnah, Tippu, Pappu etc and making our country looked down in international erena. India is a secular Nation and raking up communal feelings or appeasement politics, looks very cheap and totally unacceptable. Stable Government, strong opposition and challenging media are essential for healthy democracy. Instead of setting targets like Congress mukt Bharat,  Modi mukt India, Opposition mukt Hindusthan, let us all work towards achieving " GARIBI MUKT INDIA" with collective wisdom and hard work. 

NDA initiated certain longterm reforms in the larger interest of the nation and  is expected to push them further without compromise. At the same time expect to deliver what was promised, particularly to poor and vulnerable sections. It is fair enough for Modi JI to seek another term to continue the initiatives like economic reforms and transparency in Governance, but people are the final  judges. Even Congress or any other parties, are also welcome. All parties has to feel Governance as responsibility ( Trustee) not as authority ( Ownership)  and serve people.
