FLORAL TRIBUTES TO NTR- THE  LIVING GOD

NTR - FILM ACTOR

Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, affectionately known as “ANNA GARU”, during his life time touched millions of hearts across the globe with his multifarious acting skills and very popular in the role of “LORD KRISHNA”. In fact Indian cinema could not imagine anyone except NTR in Lord Krishna role. He lived in other mythological like Rama, Duryodhan, Bhim, Shiv etc with same ease. NTR had clearly exhibited his dominance in Indian cinema particularly in telugu film industry by showing variation in acting not only in mythological but also in social, Jana pada movies. Even after 22 years of demise, still he is the most popular actor of Indian cinema. Though his political carrier is just 14 years, within short span of time he made a mark for himself and always remain on top with clean image.

NTR - WELL MEANING HUMAN BEING

Any calamity in AP or any national emergency, NTR used to be in forefront and lead the entire telugu film industry in responding to the situation. His social involvement in collecting donations and sensitising youth in particular during Pakistan war, Diviseema cyclone and number of such occasions will always remain fresh in the memory of people.

This helping and responsive nature of NTR with socialistic thinking and some influence of left oriented personalities, later developed “ANNA GARU” as uncompromising leader with large heart for poor and needy.

NTR- THE LEADER

After failure of Janata party experiment ,those were the days of Mrs Indira Gandhi total dominance over Indian politics and the federal system of Centre- state was systematically weakened and mood like “ India is Indira & Indira is India “ was created. In AP during 1978-83 , four CMs were changed and were even insulted.  Telugus started feeling that their self respect and dignity were at stake. For the first time the state solidly stood behind Indira madam even during emergency and elected 41 congress MPs in 1977 out of 42 seats started revolting against congress leadership and clearly political vacuum in the state was felt.

NTR sensed the mood and came back to Hyderabad from Chennai in 1982 and very quickly formed Telugu Desam party and the slogan was “Self respect of telugus”. He quickly moved into the nook and corner of the state, identified young, educated youth with socialistic bent of mind, who could not get along well with congress and at the same time cannot take extreme  positions like communists and shortlisted them as TDP candidates for 1983 elections.

With emotional, well meaning and firebrand speeches of NTR, lyrics like “Cheyethi Jai Kottu Telugoda”, and clean image of fresh and educated candidates, people of AP gave historic mandate to NTR.

He very quickly got into action and introduced AP Lokayukta act, abolition of Patwari/Patel system, Rs 2/kg rice, property rights to women, revenue/administrative reforms through Mandal system, ban on cheap liquor and various other reforms with poor as focal point and dealt corruption with iron hand. It was big shock for vested interest politicians who thought they can run administration by keeping NTR as figure head.  He could successfully survive political revolt in party in 1985 and introduced and implemented reforms with vigour.

NTR never compromised when it comes to welfare and development and initiated administrative reforms, bring in accountability in administration, took administration to the doorsteps of people (Prajala vaddaku paalana/Janmabhoomi). The type of social or mythological message he gave to public through silver screen, he tried to implement without compromise in public life and remind as god in millions of poor people’s hearts. NTR influence in public life is so effective, even congress CM YS Rajasekar Reddy (YSR) had to follow NTR footsteps when it comes to welfare and won successive elections with NTR formula.

Though NTR lost 1989 assembly elections to Mari Chenna Reddy led congress party mainly due to noncooperation of government employees, came back quickly in 1994 elections with thumping majority by reducing congress party to mere 26 seats. No political leader in the nation could have such strong following among public and bounced back with such strong mandate.

He found permanent place in hearts of Royalseema farmers and madras citizens by his innovative irrigation cum drinking water project TELUGU GANGA. Other than this, he initiated Galeru Nagari, series of other irrigation projects and ignited the process of “ JALA YAGNAM”. Later YSR took the leads from NTR & got political advantage during 2004-2010.

NTR IN NATIONAL POLITICS:

After failure of Janata party experiment, there was no strong opposition to congress at centre and no one could take lead. In such situation NTR took initiative and initiated “ National front” brought leaders like ABV, Advani, Devilal, VP Singh, Deva Gowda, Chandrasekar and others together and created strong alternative to congress and through challenges. But for NTR initiation, there was no national front government lead by VP Singh at centre.

NTR the legendary personality is fondly known as “VISWA VIKYATHA NATA SARVABHOMA “ for exemplary acting skills, is equally popular in public life by creating history and records which can never be broken in very short span of just 14 years.

NTR is well deserving “ BHARAT RATNA”, irrespective of political affiliations entire  telugu people, in fact the entire nation has to come forward and rise their voice for well deserving and coveted award of “BHARAT RATNA” to ANNA GARU (NTR).
