IS TRADITIONAL INDIAN FOOD FACING SURVIVAL THREAT?? It's very common practice that on Sundays people buy chicken, mutton, fish etc prepare in conventional form at home and enjoy the holiday with traditional food. Similarly vegetarians enjoy Paneer, speciality vegetable preparations at home. With the advancement of Software, finance, service sector jobs with global exposure our youth are getting attracted to pre cooked, baked, imported foods and in no time pizzas, burgers, nuggets etc became very popular and finding inroads into our semi urban and rural areas too. Similarly we Indian enjoy traditional fruits as part of food by consuming mangoes and banana with curd rice, take fruits after dinner. These practices are being replaced by natural ice creams, frozen fruit products (mainly imported) and having severe impact on our local fruits markets. PREAMBLE: Looks like strategies of playing with caste, creed, community, gender, religion, religious minorities, class etc for extracting votes and coming to power have come to an end and political parties are looking for green pastures and innovative strategies. The recent announcement of ban on sale of cattle and camels for non agricultural purpose may be one such strategy to divide and consolidate vote banks integrated with livelihoods and sentiments, revolving around cattle. REFLECTIONS  ON CENTRE  FOR MEDIA STUDIES (CMS) STUDY ON CORRUPTION  It’s really alarming to know that baring Kerala & Telangana, the other three southern states stood first to third in corruption index (Karnataka followed by AP & TN). This corruption index is not related to development indicators as the most developed states like Gujarat & Maharashtra or the most under developed states like Bihar, UP did not figure in the top five in corruption index. One correlation we can draw is linking corruption index to the election expenditure, as these three states are spending huge amounts for elections in the country. If the system can prevent election expenditure through bringing  in stringent rules and reforms, the corruption might come down and it will be a good beginning.
